For English readers of this blog, there are a few forthcoming events which may be of interest. On Friday 1 April, at 7.30 p.m., in the Naas Lane Community Centre in Lydney, Anthony Boden will be giving
the first F. W. Harvey Society Annual Lecture. Saturday 9 April sees the
Dymock Poets weekend at the Brooms Green Village Hall, including two talks on the inexplicably underrated Wilfrid Gibson. And on Saturday 14 May, at St Andrews Church in Churchdown, Gloucester, the Ivor Gurney Society will be holding its
annual spring weekend.
The Ivor Gurney weekend will be of particular interest to those who enjoy Gurney's poetry. Eleanor Rawling will be launching her new, beautifully illustrated book Ivor Gurney's Gloucestershire: Exploring Poetry & Place. Eleanor is a Gloucestershire native and a geographer so she has vast knowledge of Gurney's places and brings them to life for readers.
